Drones

Please note the flying of drones, or any other aerial device, within one kilometre of the Castle at the Balmoral is not permitted at any time of the year.

Access during August and September

The Cairns Walk is unavailable during August and September.

Please note that during this time there is also no general access to the areas closest to the Castle.

However, for those travelling on foot from Ballater to Braemar on the South side of the river there is an alternative route available.

The Gelder Loop takes you from Easter Balmoral, via Rhebrek, to West Lodge and vice versa, if coming from the West.
