Salmon Fishing

Enjoy fishing on one of the three beats at Balmoral

The River Dee offers some of the finest fishing in Scotland and the three Balmoral Beats are located on the South Bank of the river, stretching from The Brig O' Dee (near Braemar) down to Dalliefour (near Ballater).

These fishing beats are available for rental on the open market from April until the end of July each year, with the exception of some weeks required by the Royal Family.

Fishing is normally let on a weekly basis, with rentals running Monday until Saturday and prices vary throughout the season. However it is sometimes possible to arrange for part weeks fishing, either Monday to Wednesday or Thursday to Saturday.

Balmoral Estates support the voluntary code of practice on the River Dee and encourage fishing tenants to follow these conservation measures by returning all salmon to the river in order to aid the recovery of stocks.

Fishing is let with the services a ghillie, shared between the rods on the beat.
