We are looking for a confident and knowledgeable tour guide to lead exterior and interior castle tours, sharing engaging, historical insights, and answering visitor questions.

Department: Visitor Enterprises
Location: Balmoral, Ballater, Aberdeenshire, AB35 5TB
Reporting to: Visitor Enterprise Manager, Operations Manager, Visitor Enterprise Office Manager and Senior Curator
Renumeration: Variable hours contract
Start date: May 2025
Balmoral Castle and Estate is the highland home of the His Majesty King Charles III and has been privately owned by the Royal Family since 1848. In the rural highland setting of Royal Deeside, Balmoral is a widely recognised destination, welcoming a high influx of national and international visitors all year round.
We are dedicated to providing our staff with the relevant knowledge and training to deliver a professional and memorable experience for visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct informative and engaging tour of Balmoral Castle
Ability to retain scripts and historical information
Answer questions from visitors
Ensure all tours are conducted safely and adhere to regulations
Report any maintenance or safety concerns observed during tours
Adhere to and deliver organisational security procedures and protocols
Requirements:
Excellent communication skills and confident speaking to groups of varying sizes
Enthusiastic, approachable and professional demeanour
Flexibility to work weekends and evenings
Flexibility to work in the different departments of Visitor Enterprise, this may include the Gift Shop, Gate, Exhibitions and Restaurant
