Balmoral Estate

Balmoral Estate has held significant historical value and offers serene Scottish scenery that has captivated the Royal Family and their guests for generations.

When originally purchased in 1848, Balmoral Estate covered 17,000 acres. Today, over 170 years later, the estate has grown to over 50,000 acres, covering areas of moorland and heath, towering hills, and rare, protected woodland habitats, as well as the immediate surroundings of the castle, with well-kept lawns and gardens bursting with native species, to mazes and a 9-hole golf course.

Despite this expansion, the activities have remained very similar to those in Queen Victoria’s day. The public can enjoy the estate in a variety of ways, from exploring the gardens and grounds, enjoying a round of golf, or staying in one of the many holiday cottages found nestled throughout the estate, Balmoral really has something to offer everyone.
