Embark on a two-hour Land Rover journey across the stunning Balmoral Estate, including the stunning manicured parkland and gardens in front of Balmoral Castle, the old Caledonian Pine Forest — the home of the elusive and endangered Capercaillie — the hillsides surrounding the Estate and high up into Lochnagar mountain, one of Scotland’s most famous and breathtaking scenic spots.
The tour then heads back to civilisation via the monuments and historical buildings of the village of Easter Balmoral. Discover the intriguing life stories of the resident wildlife and learn about the conservation management that is currently underway to help protect some of the United Kingdom’s rarest species.
As you traverse the estate, you'll gain a deeper understanding of its significance and enjoy the serene Scottish scenery that has captivated the Royal Family and their guests for generations.

Tour details
Cost: £350 per group (up to six people).
Morning expedition: Arrive at the Estates Office by 9:45 AM. The tour runs from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Afternoon expedition: Arrive at the Estates Office by 12:45 PM. The tour runs from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Please note the Winter Expedition Tours are weather dependent and may be cancelled if conditions are not suitable for the tour.
Although there are no guarantees, wildlife species which are regularly encountered, include birds of prey, red squirrels, red deer, red grouse, black grouse, snow bunting and salmon.
Swarovski binoculars are provided on these tours. The outstanding quality of the binoculars allows you to get closer to the wildlife and landscapes of Balmoral.
Parking: Conveniently available by the Estates Office where you can also access the Mews Gift Shop and our recently renovated restaurant following your tour.
