The grounds at Balmoral are now closed to the public and will reopen on Friday, 24th January.

Towards a new era at Balmoral

His Majesty’s decision to open the Castle to the public for the first time is just one of many ways the estate is evolving into a new era, with the spirit of openness, sustainability, heritage and looking to the future at the forefront.

While staying loyal to Balmoral’s roots as the private Highland Home of the Royal Family, the Castle and Estate are more accessible than they have ever been before. As well as new exclusive looks inside the Castle, we have recently unveiled a stylish new website, elegant restaurant, and new online and in-person gift shop experience with a fully reconsidered product range.

Balmoral Castle and Estate are evolving, blending tradition with modernity to offer an enriched experience for all. Join us as we step into this exciting new chapter, where the past and future harmoniously coexist.

A refreshed new website

Our redesigned website offers a seamless booking experience and provides visitors with an in-depth exploration of the Royal Family’s history at Balmoral, option to shop our new collection of high-end products through our Gift Shop and information on tours, accommodation and sights around the Estate.

It is designed to be both user-friendly and informative, ensuring that every visitor can plan their visit and learn about the estate’s rich history with ease.

Browse new collections at our gift shop

In our new online gift shop, you’ll find an array of luxurious textiles, stylish homeware goods, souvenirs, informative books and premium collections that represent the breadth of talented makers we have across Britain, as well as supporting His Majesty’s passions for sustainability.

Our Watercolour Collection features artworks from the Castle, some painted by His Majesty King Charles III himself, printed on a premium selection of food, drink and home accessories that offer a unique opportunity to take a slice of Balmoral’s rich heritage home with you.

The Balmoral Exclusive Collection celebrates the stunning landscape of the Cairngorms, changing with the seasons. Each check in the specially designed Balmoral Hunting Tartan tells the story of the history of Balmoral Castle as the Highland Home of the Royal Family and was hand-crafted by celebrated local textile makers.

Our Made in Scotland collection embodies a craftsmanship-oriented philosophy that guides the selection of products; many created by makers local to Balmoral. For instance, we are proud to stock a collection of stunning homeware and accessories by McLeans of Braemar, created from sustainably sourced antlers that are shed on the mountainsides by local stags and subsequently harvested to create striking, one-of-a-kind pieces.

Where to find the gift shop

You can shop our new curated selection of products at our online gift shop or in person at the gift shop on the Estate, which can be found by the estate offices, opposite the restaurant.
